#DoGood Brands We Love And Use

When Brittain and I planted our hospitality flag years ago, we did so with the belief that business should make a dollar and a difference.

In other words, we wanted to build hotel properties where ‘sleep has a purpose’.

That’s why as you peek and poke around our resort, you’ll see products from pillows to TP that have a social good mission behind them. What that means for us is that we love companies that weave social impact into their mission to be a profitable business. They use materials that don’t destroy the earth, they’re thoughtful about the people working for them, and they have passion for a world-bending project that their business helps support.

Here’s the low down on all the cause-minded products we use in our day-to-day for your stay:

Who Gives a Crap TP — This stuff seriously saves lives

Contaminated water contributes to over 1 million deaths annually (b/c in countries without proper sanitation, poo ends up in places where people also get their drinking water 😬 )

That’s why we provide your bum with soft TP from Who Gives A Crap. They’re a business from down under that donates 50% of their profits to ensure everyone has access to clean water and a toilet within our lifetimes.

Oh, and they do this all with toilet paper that’s 100% recycled (no trees were harmed in the making).

And before you think they’re only a wonderful charity — note that they’re also a wildly profitable company (bringing in enough dough to buy a large bum ad that covered the Super Bowl stadium).

Seriously, check it out:

The point is, they follow the same philosophy that Brittain and I are passionate about —  that businesses can (and really should!) make a dollar and a difference. That’s why you’ll find this uber-soft and awesomely-branded TP in every nook and cranny of our resort.

Eco Pods Shampoo, Conditioner, and Body Wash

Think about the last time you stayed at a normal hotel with those plastic bottles filled up with all the soaps.

Just like your body is mostly water, so is shampoo. In fact, up to 80% of traditional shampoo is water. That water adds unnecessary weight that then takes up tons more space and fuel when shipping it. To say nothing about what happens to all that plastic when we finish off the hotel shampoo…

So we wanted to do something different here while still giving our guests a luxury bathing experience. Enter Eco Pods. You’ll find our spots stocked with these marvelous little powder pods that smell great and get you squeaky clean.

To Use:

All you do is add a bit of the powder into the palm of your hand, throw in some shower water and kablam-o! You’ve got soap in your hand that’s ten thousand times better than that regular hotel stuff. It’s also a whole lot less nasty on the environment and waterways.

Blueland Hand Soap

This is one of the most magical products I’ve ever seen.

Just like Eco Pods help all of us cut back on waste caused by ‘normal’ soap products — Blueland Hand Soap does the same for us with our hand washing system in every on-grid unit.

It works like this — we have Blueland’s glass hand soap dispensers in our rooms. Between stays, we check them, clean them, and if they’re low on soap, we simply pop in some fresh hot water, drop a handy dandy Blueland tablet, and watch the magic happen (seriously, we get to watch soap get made in real-time, sort of like those old Alka Seltzer commercials). 😀

Blueland’s products have helped to eliminate over 1 billion single-use plastic bottles from landfills and oceans (and now, Flathead Lake) since 2019. That’s a mission we’re proud to be a part of.

Dropps Dish Soap

Much like Blueland, Dropps is a mission-driven company dedicated to ending the scourge of single-use plastic (and probably plastic in general) around the world.

It’s powerful cleaning with plant and mineral-based ingredients that get the job done in a solid way. We use their dish soap in our units with kitchen sinks so you can scrub your dishes in sustainable fashion.

Buffy Pillows

I love a good sleep and critical to that is a comfy pillow. So you can imagine my skepticism when Brittain told me we’d be buying pillows and duvets filled with shredded, recycled plastic bottles.

But my skepticism instantly washed away when I first dropped my noggin on a Buffy pillow. Yes, they fill their pillows with recycled plastic, but dang it’s the comfiest, silkiest stuff I’ve ever slept on.

Yes I’ve tried down pillows.

And memory foam pillows.

And shredded bamboo pillows.

Buffy beats them all. And that’s why you’ll find Buffy’s earth-friendly pillows all over our property.

And what’s just as important as a good night’s rest? Sleeping with purpose, which Buffy.co helps us do.

Black Coffee Roasting Co.

We’re globetrotters. And we find it a travesty when our BnBs don’t have stellar coffee to fire up our day. We also feel in our hearts that coffee should always be thoughtfully grown, free of chemicals, and full of respect for those who created it.

That’s why we’ve had coffee from Black Coffee Roasting Co. on tap since our first day in charge up here.

They’re a local Montana business down in Missoula. They craft roast all their organic coffee there before sending it up the road to us. Black Coffee Roasting also takes great care of all their people — from employees to farmers to us customers.

We package all our coffee in recycled and biodegradable bags. We also have larger bags for purchase so you can take more on the road with you after you fall in love with Black Coffee.

Our on-grid units feature complimentary Black Coffee for the brewing.

Boxed Water is Better

69 Billion plastic bottles are made every year and only 5% are recycled. That’s why we stock our rooms with Boxed Water. Also found on Alaska Airlines, this water is just as drinkable as the others and doesn’t hurt Mama Earth.

The boxes are 92% plant-based, and the other 8% is recycled too. That’s why we stock ‘em in our on-grid units. We also recycle these cartons for you after you're done (or you can take them with you to refill and reuse!) so your water drinking impact is zero.

Boxed Water is Better also has a social good mission to repopulate national forests and urban centers with much needed tree cover. They even work in our nearby Kootenai National Forest — making this water go down even easier.

Dirty Labs

‘Dirty Labs’ is really a clean cleaning innovations lab on a mission to make traditional petrochemical-based cleaning obsolete. And that’s why we use their laundry detergent for all our on-site laundering needs.

Here at The Resort, you can rest easy knowing that those sheets snuggling up to you were cleaned with a bio-based, chemical-free, and biodegradable detergent that leaves everything fresh and clean.

Busy.co Body Wipes

Glacial camping often requires some creative cleansing to rid yourself of those ‘adventure odors’ that come about. That’s why we stock these biodegradable body wipes so you can pack cleaning power when you venture out.

These wipes are also handy (and provided) if you stay in our dry units (like the Mini Montana Log Cabin or our teardrop campers) to hold you over between showers at the national parks or elsewhere.

When we planted our flag on our patch by Flathead Lake, we wanted ours to be a place where sleep has a purpose. That’s why we sought and continue to seek out #DoGood products for our resort. Rest easy knowing that we’ve worked hard to find cause-minded products for every corner.
